hello 3veryone, i always find myself talking to self, and its OK because it helps put somethings into perspective, but what worries me is the fact that talking to self gets to a point where am arguing with myself and even getting annoyed till i have to slap some sense into my thick hard head. is this normal??

Talking to yourself doesn't mean you're insane, it means you have a strong mind.

Thank you for sharing your story. First of all, I'd like to say it's very normal for you to talk to yourself.
Talking to oneself is even beneficial in several ways. For athletes, talking to themselves is responsible for controlling their behavior and arousal states, encouraging themselves, and making them concentrate under difficult performance conditions. In addition, self-referential remarks to ordinary people like us help us take various perspectives on ourselves and maintain some critical distance from what we are doing. So, it makes sense that it helps you put somethings into perspective. Unless it causes significant distress of impairment in your social , occupational, or other important areas of functioning, talking to yourself itself is no problem. Hope it would be helpful. Thanks.
